Tomorrow is one of my favorite holidays - it's National Strawberry day! Of course, I may be a tad biased but I love all things strawberries. Growing up in the lush Salinas Valley where all things green and colorful grow fresh from the soil, it was hard not to fall quickly in love with strawberries from a young age. What I love most about these vibrant berries is their versatility to be eaten fresh out of the clamshell or added to any cocktail, dessert, salad or breakfast dish to add some juicy sweetness.
We offer our big, beautiful strawberries on a year-round basis by growing in a variety of climates with mild weather conditions that our strawberries just love. So, your California Giant strawberries could be grown in Santa Maria, Watsonville, and Salinas, California during the spring and summer months, while they could also be coming from Mexico, Florida or Oxnard during the fall and winter, which means strawberries 365 days a year - woo-hoo!
If you have a California Giant strawberry clamshell of your own, feel free to flip over the clamshell and find the 16-digit code on the back and type into our site here to Follow Us to Our Farm and see for yourself!
Now for the fun part - how does one actually celebrate National Strawberry day? With strawberry recipes of course! I have a few favorites in mind that I would feel selfish not to share with the rest of you, they are that good and definitely need to be tested and tried by all.
One of our most popular recipes to date is our Starbucks Inspired Strawberry Frappuccino. In case you were wondering, this smells like absolute heaven and definitely wakes you up in the morning for all you folks dreading daylight savings next weekend. It's creamy, cold and extra sweet for the warm weather that's hopefully heading our way this spring and summer too!
Need another morning pick-me-up? Or really, an any-time-of-day energy boost? This Peanut Butter Strawberry Parfait is the perfect combination of sweet and salty and it's PACKED with a crunch and bold yummy flavors. The great thing about this recipe is that you can really add any berry to it (maybe even some thinly sliced bananas?!) It's truly is a PBJ in a jar. But today, we'll focus on the star of the show for this month - strawberries!
We can't get this giddy about National Strawberry Day and not highlight a classic Strawberry Pie. Oozy, strawberry, melt-in-your-mouth-goodness that makes you feel like you're a kid again picking strawberries in the fields. This sweet, sugary aroma will make your house smell out of this world. Not to mention, it's super EASY.
I could go on and on, but those are a few of my personal strawberry favorites that will sweeten up any occasion. How are you celebrating National Strawberry Day? Maybe it's with fresh sliced strawberries in the kiddos lunch box, homemade Strawberry Shortcake with the family after dinner, or maybe a Strawberry Jalapeño Margarita to add some spice to the week?!
