Morgan: My Version of Self-Love

There’s something about the New Year that is motivating, yet slightly overwhelming! I don’t know about you, but leading up to January I always go through a laundry list of things I’d like to work on in the New Year – whether that includes fitness goals, incorporating more fruits and vegetables into my diet, updating my wardrobe, making more time for social activities – I feel bombarded with the weight to accomplish new goals and it can be inspiring, but also somewhat daunting. For me, celebrating the New Year has gone from refreshing and exciting to high-pressure – pressure to fulfill my resolutions and follow through in every challenge I’ve given myself.

This year, there are a few things that of course, I’d like to focus more on: more time spent with friends, working out at least 30 minutes a day, and managing my stress more efficiently (taking up yoga, meditation, reiki, etc.) While there are aspects of my life I am excited to focus on more in 2019, I am also looking forward to simply celebrating what I already have – health, family, an amazing boyfriend, a job that I love and so much more.

My goal more than anything this year is to be easy on myself – to embrace the daily imperfections and place an emphasis on the gratitude surrounding each day. Some aspects that I am looking forward to in 2019: waking up on a Sunday morning and making Belgian waffles with heaps of whipped cream and fresh berries, because I NEVER wake up and treat myself to a sweet breakfast… so why not?! I want to unwind after work in the bath with my favorite calming salts and Anthropologie candles. I want to spend more time outside enjoying the sunshine, and plan more travels so I can experience new areas and cultures.

This year, join me on the journey of self-love and put yourself first.
