Smoothie bowls are SO refreshing and perfect for battling the heat of summer. Ground matcha tea and smoothie bowls are popping up all over my social media feed, so I had to jump in on the trend! Just look how fresh and pretty this smoothie is! You can decorate your smoothie with fresh berries in a bowl and enjoy on a relaxing morning, or you can use a to-go cup and sip on your way to work.
Using frozen fruit instead of ice creates a thicker and smoother consistency. I love topping my smoothie bowl with every berry I can find. Strawberries, blueberries, blackberries and raspberries paired with nuts and kiwi is my favorite smoothie topping option. 2 bananas, peeled, chopped, and frozen
2 cup mixed Cal Giant berries, frozen
1 cup greek yogurt
2 tsp ground matcha tea
½ cup toasted coconut chips
½ cup fresh mixed Cal Giant berries, sliced
½ cup toasted cashews or almonds
In a blender, blend together the yogurt and matcha until no clumps of matcha are left, stopping and scraping down the sides of the blender frequently.
Add the frozen banana and berries and blend together. This mixture will be super thick so stop the blender often and stir the mixture. It is best to start off the blender slow and then gradually increase the speed in between the times you scrape down the sides. *If you have a Vitamix blender, use the black tamper that comes with it to place in the lid and help press down on the ingredients to blend better. Never use it without the lid while the blender is running!
Once well blended, divide into 2 bowls, and sprinkle half of the toppings onto each. Have fun with making the top of your smoothie bowl look as good as it tastes! Add extra toppings or substitute your favorites nuts.
