Essentials for a Day of Fun in the Sun

There can't be anything better than a fun day in the sun. I'm serious - how else can you get your daily dose of Vitamin D, a flawless tan and the freedom to just look up and feel the sun on your face? Now imagine an entire day outside with no technology and the special people in your life - I'm starting to do a little happy dance just thinking about it!

Whether I'm simply walking our dog around the local lake with my family or packing up the truck for an early morning hike, I like to have my day in the sun essentials:

  • Sunscreen
  • Hat
  • Sunglasses
  • Backpack
  • Waterproof Jacket
  • Umbrella
  • A Reusable Water Bottle with Hydrating Berries
  • Energizing Snacks

Staying protected from the sun, hydrated, and full with lite but healthy snacks is how we manage to spend all day outside. It doesn't hurt that California summers are pretty mild but let's be honest, the sun can really take a lot out of you!

I need at least two water bottles because I drink so much water! My husband has to fend for himself and neither of us enjoy having to stop to purchase water, so we bring extra and map out any accessible water fountains we could use.

While I like to focus on staying hydrated, my husband is more worried about staying full. I give him full reign to pack our snacks, and it's amazing the treats he puts together! Blueberry energy bites are probably his favorite snack to put together and they're absolutely delicious. If I'm having a slow start to my sun day fun day, I'll just throw a container of blueberries in my backpack for an easy handheld snack I can munch on while we're on the go.
