Self-Love: Our New Year's Resolution

Cal Giant | January 10, 2019

Happy 2019! I hope you had a wonderful holiday with your family and loved ones. For me, the beginning of a new year is a fresh, clean start; something to look forward to. But this year, we've decided to do something a little different. Instead of making self-improvement related New Years Resolutions, we are encouraging self-love of what we already have.

January is one of the hardest months of the year. It seems like every gym is bombarding you about losing weight and getting fit, not to mention the posts with #NewYearNewMe and #Fitspiration on your social media feed. There is so much pressure on us to be perfect.

So many people are doubting how they look, counting how many gym classes they go to or counting how many calories they consume. But within the last few years, a movement has been growing; one of of self-acceptance, or self-love.

I truly believe that we have become too critical of ourselves. That's why this month we are encouraging self-confidence and taking care of our bodies inside and out.

Show us your best berry-selfie on Instagram or Facebook, tagging us with #31DaysofSelfLove for the chance to win 1 of 5 $50 gift cards to put toward something that makes you happy and feel good – a spa day, a night out with your spouse, a new outfit you’ve had your eye on. Tell us what self-love means to you!

For some, self-love means wearing a face mask with a glass of wine at home, or enjoying an extra slice of pizza, or can be as simple as saying in the mirror, "I love you. I accept you as you are."

The one thing that no one can avoid is being busy at the start of the year. That's why I love to treat myself (and my schedule) with a sweet, creamy smoothie for when there isn't enough time in the day:
