fourth of july tablescape-6

Fourth of July is almost here and we're ready for a red, white and YOU celebration! I am SO excited that the Fourth falls in the middle of the week. I can spend time with my parents the weekend before, time with my friends on the Fourth, and time with my boyfriend the weekend after - everyone wins!

My boyfriend and I are having to bring a different dish to each celebration, and we searched high and low for the perfect recipes. My parents want us to bring a sweet treat, so we're putting together red, white and blue Fourth of July fruit skewers AND patriotic pops. The skewers can be used as an appetizer or dessert, and there's nothing like a refreshing popsicle on a warm summer day.

Our friends are putting together a boat ride for the actual Fourth of July! We're going to wake up super early and spend all day driving around the lake, soaking up some sun on the water. To end the day we're going to have a huge bonfire and grill up burgers with all the fixings to enjoy while the fireworks burst over the lake - talk about picturesque!

The last event on our list is a cookout at my boyfriend. Summers in California can get a little hot, so we're taking a quick trip east for some cooler weather. To stay true to the famous food of the windy city, we're making homemade hot dogs with a blueberry salsa! This sweet and savory creation brings me back to Fourth of July block parties as a kid. A little messy, but oh-so-delicious.

We're enjoying these treats separately, but together, they'd make a delicious patriotic spread! How are you planning to celebrate the Fourth of July and how many cookouts do you have planned for the holiday week? Let us know in the comment section below.
