Christmas Dinner Survival Guide

Cindy | December 18, 2019

I don't know about you, but Christmas is the holiday that I look forward to most out of the year. Not only do I get to spend time with family and loved ones, I can do it around a big plate of food!

Deciding what you'll bring to the dinner table doesn't have to be as stressful as picking the perfect gift. I'm sharing my "survival guide" (aka recipes) for each type of family member around the holidays: The one with the sweet tooth, the last-minute shopper, and the one obsessed with turkey leftovers. Which one are you?

The One With the Sweet Tooth: Rustic Chocolate Blueberry Christmas Cake

Skip the boring bundt for a kicked-up chocolate cake! The special ingredient: blueberries. I like to decorate this cake with white vanilla frosting and leave a few "spots" for a more rustic, winter-like look that's also known as the crumb coat technique. For an extra touch, dust the serving tray with powdered sugar, blueberries and cinnamon sticks. Trust me, this never fails to impress my grandchildren!

The Last-Minute Shopper: Blackberry Moscow Mule

Oh no! You forgot that mom asked you to bring something for Christmas dinner... No worries, just grab a few copper cups, ginger beer, vodka and blackberries for a yummy Blackberry Moscow Mule everyone will love. Mom will never notice that it was a last-minute decision. Sipping your way through Christmas festivities has never been tastier!

The One Obsessed with Turkey Leftovers: Roasted Turkey & Apple Sandwich Bites with Blackberry Mustard

Just like Ralphie’s Dad in A Christmas Story, we all have that one family member that LOVES their leftovers. Skip the soggy sandwiches for a crispy panini-like sandwich with a sweet twist of blackberry mustard! My family raves about the different flavors and can easily take them on our post-Christmas shopping trips around town.

What type of family member are you? I'll admit that I'm the sweet tooth gal... let's swap stories in the comments below! 😊

A lot of people ask about "the person behind the posts" on The Buzz. Who is THAT knowledgeable about all things berry-related?
