Burger with Strawberry Ancho BBQ

Kristin | June 28, 2017

We are so excited to celebrate the red, white and blue with our strawberry ancho BBQ! Fourth of July is almost here and we’re testing out all of our favorite recipes. There are so many to choose! With friends and family coming over a burger with sweet strawberry ancho BBQ sauce is sure to impress. This sauce is absolutely amazing!

If a mouthwatering burger smothered is sweet strawberry ancho BBQ sauce sounds too good to be true then wait until you pair it with spare ribs! I personally can’t decide which I love more. Burgers or ribs?!

I built my burger with cheddar cheese, butter lead lettuce, bacon, avocado, pickles, and tomato on a ciabatta bun. The flavors go so well together, and the strawberry in the sauce adds just the right amount of sweetness to complement the salty bacon and cheese!

Try out our strawberry ancho BBQ sauce this Fourth of July and let us know what you think in the comment section below!

Ingredients:

For the BBQ Sauce

16 oz California Giant strawberries, quartered

2 dried ancho chiles, stem and seeds removed, quartered

2 T canola oil

1/2 cup red wine vinegar

1/4 cup molasses

1 tsp kosher kosher salt

Juice of 1 lemon

Instructions:

  • Heat a large saute pan over medium/high heat.

  • Add 2 T canola oil and the dried ancho chiles, stir for 1 minute to soften chiles.

  • Add quartered strawberries and stir to combine, cook for 3 minutes while stirring every 30 seconds.

  • Add the red wine vinegar and molasses, stir to combine, then simmer for 30 minutes, stirring every 10 minutes.

  • Remove from pan into a blender, add 1 tsp kosher salt, the juice of one lemon, and blend until smooth.

  • Strain through a fine mesh strainer (gives a smooth consistency, but not a must if you don’t have) and enjoy!
