Summer is almost over, and now is prime-time to throw a big, backyard bash before fall arrives and the party moves indoors! Cocktails (and mocktails for the kiddos), finger foods, and DIY decor are all on the menu for the party I'm planning. I know it can be overwhelming to think of all the possibilities, so I like to break down my planning into sections:
Yes, it's great to chitchat with friends but let's be honest—parties are all about the spread! Try to keep the weather in mind when you brainstorm your menu. For instance, hot soup would not be the best choice for a party outdoors in the heat! In this case, I'm thinking of grilled goodies paired with fresh sides like salsa-stuffed avocados.
Kristin's tips for berry ice cubes and infused drinks is an absolute must. They serve as a beautiful garnish for cocktails and are tasty in non-alcoholic drinks too. Pop these berry cubes into lemonade, tea, water, or even wine!
Once you have your menu, then you can move on to appropriate decor and decorations. You wouldn't want to plan an all-white table setting, for instance, followed by a menu of sloppy joes and bubbling berry cobbler! Since I plan to serve cocktails, pizza and salad, I think something simple would be best. I'm in love with this idea to sit outside in the grass surrounded by stringy, twinkly lights!
I hope these tips and ideas inspire your own summer soiree. Nothing is better to relax from a week of work and obligations than some down-time with food and friends!
