Back to School Berry Baskets

Cindy | August 5, 2014

Back to school season is once again upon us. As you’re picking up school supplies, new clothes, and everything else needed to send students back to school in style, don’t forget one of the most important parts — teacher appreciation. Teachers mold the minds of our little ones, and it's not always an easy task!

Naturally, I like to show my appreciation with berries. Not only are they a colorful and healthy snack, they're the sweetest foundation for homemade gifts. One of the best ideas I've found is for DIY fruit baskets— they're customizable, fun to build and make quite the first impression!

Here's all you need to build them:

  • Fresh berries (I think strawberries are best for this)
  • Any small container, like a pint-sized wooden box, paper container or even the clamshell you bought the berries in
  • "Berry Best Teacher" tags like this or these
  • Accessories to jazz it up, like colorful string, patterned cloth, etc.

Along with showing their new teachers and classmates how much they care, building berry baskets encourages kids (and adults) to eat healthy. And to me, that's the best part!

A lot of people ask about "the person behind the posts" on The Buzz. Who is THAT knowledgeable about all things berry-related?
