Susan G. Komen 3-Day For the Cure

My mother, maternal grandmother, mother-in-law and many dear friends have been diagnosed with breast cancer. Sadly, my mother, grandmother and mother-in-law have all since passed away from the disease.

It is for these brave women that I know personally, and the countless others I’ve never met, that I participate in the Susan G. Komen 3-Day for the Cure. Each year my sister joins me as we make the 60 mile trek with a community of others who are just as committed to the fight against breast cancer. We walk approximately 20 miles each day for 3 days in order to raise awareness of the cause, cheered on by many supporters along the way. At the end of each day we join together with other participants at the 3-day camp, where we share stories, connect with others passionate about the cause and receive a variety of helpful resources that assist in our individual fights against breast cancer.

I nominated the Susan G. Komen 3-day because of the difference this organization has made in the lives of those diagnosed with breast cancer. 85 percent of the proceeds the 3-day receives goes directly to research that gets us ever closer to a cure. Each of the participants in the 3-day raises at least $2,300 to make the journey, and there is nothing more inspiring than seeing survivors and supporters come together to make a difference in such a huge way. It would be such a wonderful blessing for me and a tribute to my loved ones if I were able to contribute $2,500 to the Susan G. Komen 3-day. Thank you, California Giant Berry Farms, for your support of PINK!
