Even though i wasn't asked to be Bradley Cooper's red carpet date (maybe next year!), I'm still more than excited about this year's Academy Awards and my annual get-together with movie-loving friends and family. Gorgeous gowns and the brilliant glow of "Oscar" needn't be the only flashy, yet tasteful, components of your watching party this Sunday. We've compiled a line-up of recipes that will dress up your menu so that the snacks you serve are just as jaw-dropping as the stars on the stage.
Strawberries shine when paired with these "Best Actor in a Supporting Role" nominees: basil leaves and goat cheese. We concocted these beautiful Strawberry Basil Bites last year and they proved pretty popular on Instagram. If the vibrant colors of this snack don't pique your interest, the scrumptious blend of flavors certainly will!
Rumor has it that Oscar host, Neil Patrick Harris, requests this sweet and savory Blueberry Cucumber Dip be served backstage so he can snack during commercial breaks. I don't know how reliable the source of this info is, but I wouldn't be surprised - this dip is DELICIOUS. Prep tip: Make it the night before so that the flavors have time to marinate throughout.
And the award for Best Picture, er, Mixture goes to.... these Balsamic Covered Strawberries! Our friend, Brandie, from Spoon and Saucer created this simple yet stunning recipe for us and we are in love. Serve in individual bowls and top with freshly whipped cream for a treat your guests won't soon forget.
We'd love to hear what dishes you'll be serving on Sunday, as well as who you're picking to win those prestigious, gold statuettes. Share with us on Twitter (@CaliforniaGiant) and we'll be here awaiting Bradley's call!
