A DIY Valentine’s Day

Love is in the air! Sweet treats, floral bouquets, and love notes are circling all around as we search for the best ways to tell that special someone how much we care. But one thing that reigns supreme (at least in my opinion) is a homemade gift. The time you spend personalizing and perfecting a gift for your loved ones will not go unnoticed. And while the notion of "DIY" may be intimidating, homemade gifts don't have to be scary. Here are a few very sweet ideas to inspire you:

1. Chocolate and strawberries go heart in heart on Valentine's Day, so this combo is most certainly gift-worthy! These strawberries are coated in dark chocolate and candied citrus peel, and can easily be made the night before. I'd suggest presenting them in a lovely white box, which you can find at your local crafts store.

(Psst...you can also enter our Sweet Treats for your Sweetie Sweepstakes and have gourmet, chocolate-dipped, long-stem strawberries sent to your sweetheart).

2. Is your sweetheart not a chocolate fan? I've got a recipe for that: Lemon Pudding Cake with Berries. This dessert combines the creamy and custardy texture of a pudding with the bright flavors of assorted berries—a true match made in heaven. Tip: Arrange the berries into a heart shape, surrounding the pudding. That little bit of extra effort can go a long way!

3. Is it just me, or is Pinterest the best thing ever? Whether I’m looking for a recipe, or inspiration for my next DIY project, it’s my go-to resource for all things creative.Try putting together one of these crafts or recipes from our Valentine’s Day Pinterest board. Any one of them will have one lucky guy/gal/parent/child/ friend swooning with joy.

Regardless of what you end up making, it's really the thought that counts—and it doesn't get much sweeter than that!

With love,

Cindy
